José L. Ferrer

Finca Hermosa is located right in the middle of Mallorca Wine Region. There are over 30 bodegas within a 15 minute drive of the Estate, and some located within walking distance.

Mallorca, the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, is a rising star in the wine world, blending traditional practices with modern innovation. Its unique terroir, characterized by limestone soils, Mediterranean breezes, and a warm climate, provides an ideal environment for viticulture. The island’s wine producers are gaining international recognition for crafting distinct, high-quality wines that reflect Mallorca’s diverse landscapes and rich heritage.

The island boasts two Denominations of Origin (DOs): **Binissalem** and **Pla i Llevant**, which regulate the production and quality of wines. Binissalem is renowned for its red wines, often made from the indigenous **Manto Negro** grape, offering fruity and floral profiles with a touch of spice. Pla i Llevant, meanwhile, is known for its versatility, producing reds, whites, and rosés using native varieties like **Callet** and **Prensal Blanc**, as well as international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Boutique wineries, or “bodegas,” are at the heart of Mallorca’s wine scene. Producers like **Bodegas Ribas** (the island’s oldest winery, dating back to 1711) and **Macià Batle** combine centuries-old techniques with sustainable practices. Many wineries prioritize organic farming and low-intervention winemaking, emphasizing the island’s environmental stewardship.

Mallorca’s wine tourism is also thriving, with visitors enjoying vineyard tours, tastings, and pairings with local cuisine. From crisp whites to bold reds, Mallorca’s wines offer a taste of the island’s vibrant culture and natural beauty, making it a destination of choice for wine enthusiasts worldwide.
